​MercuryHead Professional Custom Picture Framer
The optimal candidate has experience in both custom framing and design. Strong communication, design, and sales skills are a plus. Complete custom framing orders from start to finish and may occasionally work with customers. Attention to detail and expert craftsmanship is essential for this role. Willing to train the right candidate. 

Required Skills

• Attention to detail and expert craftsmanship 
• Custom framing experience
• Trained in the care and preservation of artwork
• Strong math skills (decimals and fractions)
• Read a tape measure to 1/16"
• Experience working with tools, including table saw, miter saw, under pinner, matte cutter, etc.
• Excellent organizational skills
• Eye for color and design 

Preferred Skills

• Frame design experience 
• Knowledge or experience working in the arts

Responsibilities

• Cut and join frames and fillets
• Cutting mats with computer mat cutter, manually cutting oversized mats
• Execute different types of cuts (reverse bevel, depth of cut, multiple openings, etc.)
• Cutting glass and acrylic precisely and with minimal waste
• Canvas stretching
• Mirror framing
• Textile mounting
• Archival mounting of works on paper
• Drymount press operation
• Custom fitting
• Art installations 
• Lift and carry artwork and other framing materials
• Clean and organize work areas
• Manage inventory and restock supplies
• Other duties as assigned

Workplace Conditions

• Position requires prolonged standing, bending, stooping, twisting, and lifting, including repetitive hand and wrist motion
• Requires the occasional ability to safely lift items weighing up to 50 pounds
• Requires operation of sharp and potentially hazardous equipment and/or hand tools
• Requires ability to utilize up to 10’ ladder to hang framed art and signage
• This position occasionally requires extended working hours when necessary

​MercuryHead Framing Apprentice
Assist in preparing framing orders by cutting mats, glass, backing, and packaging jobs. Manage inventory and maintain organization of workstations. Some customer service. Willing to train the right candidate. 

Required Skills

• Attention to detail and expert craftsmanship 
• Excellent customer service skills
• Eye for color and design 
• Custom framing experience
• Strong math skills (decimals and fractions)
• Read a tape measure to 1/16"
• Excellent organizational skills
• Basic computer knowledge

Preferred Skills

• Retail experience
• Experience working with tools, such as table saw, miter saw, matte cutter, etc.
• Experience in picture framing
